My truck smokes real bad and gets horrible gas milage. I was told to check out the turbo. So i pulled off the air box, and the waste gate actuator was just laying under neath the turbo not hooked up. So is this what was causing it to eun so rich and smoke?
And it didnt have a vaume line, so im assuming its a manual wastegate actuator?

Sounds like you may have found the problem that needs attention-and yes a 93 came with a mechanical wastegate.

 

Until I get a mechanical wastegate, is ok for me to lock my waste gate shut. I kmownit would keep my boost and after a while force hot air through the engine but anything else

 

Boost beyond 12-15 psi can blow head gaskets.
