which pmd/fsd?
Ok I know this has been talked about many tile and I apologize for reposting this but my phone won't let me search, anyways I've narrowed it down to where my truck needs a new pmd/fsd, and relocation and heatsink but my question is which pmd should I buy? The grey or the black? Is there any difference between the 2? Any help is great I need to get my truck fixed ASAP because I used to pull trailers for work
Oh btw my truck is a 97 Chevy 3500

People in most forums don't like ss diesel and the only thing I have got from there is my heatsink and pmd,but there heatsink is bigger and thicker than most,I have had great luck with it.When it comes to grey or black, grey is newest style but I have read threads about people getting grey and having them fail very quickly. So its kind of a guessing game there.

It is my understanding that the plugs are specific to the grey or black PMD/FSD. The plug for the grey will not fit the black and vis-versa. Which ever color you have I think you have to stick with. I have seen a thicker black PMD which is supposed to be as good or better than the stanadyne PMD/FSD at about half the cost. I dont know if that is the case. They dont make the thicker PMD/FSD in grey.
Well it may not be my pmd at all I called a diesel shop that specializes in 6.5s and as soon as I said what my truck was doing before I could even finish my sentence he said I have bad injectors, they r letting too much return in, has anyone here ever heard of this?

Injectors should be rebuilt/replaced about every 100,000 miles-the springs get weak and allow early injection/timing changes and the nozzles wear and cause a poor spray pattern.

Well I don't really know if my injectors have ever been rebuilt/replaced and my truck has 260k miles so I went ahead and bought a set of injectors and the injector installation kit and I'm gonna replace em and see what happens
As far as PMD's go,buy the one with the best warranty.
Autozone and Amazon both offer limited lifetime warranty PMD's for slightly more than the manufacturers warranty price.
And when it comes to the connector interchange between black and grey they are easy to neuter or adapter cables are offered.
