others can probably give you more informed advice regarding which oil to use than myself. If I remember from my last oil change you will need about 2.5 gal if you change hte filter too. Last ime I bought oil I got a 5 gal bucket because the price was right. I am not sure the savings was worth the hassle of trying to pour oil from a 5 gal bucket. If costs were the same the 2.5 gal juggs are the perfect size for pouring and collecting the waste oil.

For dino oil Shell Rottella 15W40 diesel rated oil is a good choice for summer months and 10W30 for winter months.

If you go the synthetic route 5W40 or 0W40 are good for year around use but must be diesel rated.

To tell if an oil is diesel rated must have a C followed by the current letter rating in the API circle.

Current gas rating is SN and current diesel rating is CJ-4 so an oil marked SN/CJ-4 would be good for both gas and diesel and would be common to find.

DO NOT use fram filters!

Napa Gold or Wix ect. are good choices.
