fuel pump only running when i trun the truck off just put a new ac delco lp and ops

i did it to day and now the lift pump runs thanks but if i unplug the lp i dont here the pump in the tank running and if i take off the line to the lift pump and trun the key no fuel comes out bad sending unit and no and now the fuel gauge if way passed full

whats a good sending unit and when i put the new one in where do i find the filter so i can take the tank sock off

 

There is no pump in the tank only a sending unit and the sock is attached to it. good sending units are on rockauto.com for a good price..i dont remember if rockauto carries ac delco in sending units. But i havent been on dieselbombers website that long but ive noticed youve posted alot of threads about your 6.5 giving you problems.i just wanna give my hats off to you man fer keepin her they really are a good truck!

 

Sometimes the original sock can be used on the new sending unit.

Click search this forum on tehe 56.5 section and search for fuel screen-I have posted some examples.

 

thank you both i know i posted alot of stuff this truck drives me nuts but i love it and will never sell it an i know its a sending unit in the tank gas truck when you trun the key you can hear it come on are these trucks the same??? should i hear it

and racer 55 i dont want the tank sock on i wanna put a inline filer on so when i change the oil i and change that filter to

 

A simple 3/8" screen like a lawnmower would have would be good pre LP.
The LP on a 95 does not activate with the key,it activates through the LP relay when the key is turned to start and then once the engine runs it gets its power from the OPS-hearing the LP run while oil pressure bleeds off after shutdown is normal.

Google OPS relay mod and get that installed DIY for long term durability or buy the harness from Kennedy Diesel and install it.

 

and how do i tell what size my tank is cuz rockauto has a lot of sending units for my truck

 

I believe short beds have 25 gallon tank and long beds have 34.
