Default silencer ring

i drive a 93 6.5 z71 ..might be a dumb question ..but where is the silencer ring located?

Ive heard these gm series turbos dont have a silencer ring i could be wrong though havent had to crack mine open yet. i know the hx series on the 6bt cummins have one though.

lopened the intake side and didnt see anything

I dont think there is i think its another dumb myth someone started about the 6.5s again..but im sure someone whos had to rebuild there turbo might chime in and give us some insight.

No there is no silencer ring on theses stock turbo's they were designed to be quiet no way to get much sound out of them other than replacing them along with the stock exhaust.

do u have a replacement in mind ?? ive been hearing good things about att turbos ...

Hx35 off a cummins would be the cheapest but the 6.5 wasnt designed for that kind of boost id just stick with your turbo and get a different intake and 4 inch exhaust then you should hear it whistle little bit

Later this year I am gonna do a C7 catipillar turbo and a Diamond eye on my 1993 and maybe just maybe am thinking of adding a intercooler of sorts am in the process of building a garage so later this year I will have a progress thread with pictures

Yeah definatley different and I have hardly nothing in the turbo it's NIB i did a little trading for it and I am 99.999% sure it will fit it's the .001% that is making me wait till the garage is built before I tackle this project that way if I need a machine shop to do anything it will be under a roof and I may even get the bug to go thru the engine while I am at it and freshen her up
