Default turbo issue?

Ok in my last thread I had a surging problem I changed the LP and now the truck runs fine just has no get up and go, I have a check engine light so I went and had it tested today and the only code it threw was a bad turbo boost sensor, so my question is where is the sensor located? And where can I buy because advance auto told me they can't get it I need some help!!

If the code you are talking about is the p0236, then it might not be the actual boost sensor. I had the same code thrown at me an lost all power and was driving from Montana down to Colorado without any boost. For me it was the vacuum pump and I wasn't getting any vacuum up to the wastegate so no boost, the sensor triggered the code. I think the most common problem when this code pops up is the boost solenoid. The way to check is to pull the vacuum line off the wastegate and feel if there is any suction. If there isn't pull the line from the vacuum pump off the solenoid and see if there is any suction. The solenoid is located just to the right of the "Turbo Power" cover or where it would be if you have it removed. Its a little black piece with two lines running from it. I don't know how much they cost to fix.

As for the boost sensor, I think if you take off the "Turbo Power" cover and follow the intake toward the flat part of the intake, I think there is a "sensor" there and I assume that is the boost sensor, or it might be located somewheres on the turbo itself.

Good luck, if it was a different code, you might want to put the code up so some of the more experienced member could help you out. More info = more help

P0236 and P0238 r the codes it threw I was told by the guy at advance auto that the second code its being thrown because of the first code, if that makes sense? I really don't have a clue about any of this

Default turbo

If your standing in front of truck looking at engine with the tubo power cover off .tthe turbo censor will be right there in middle of intake first thing you will see under cover.

Ok to all that have been wondering what I came up with, I had my buddy who is a mechanic look at the truck and after extensive discussing and research, he erased the codes and the truck runs AMAZING!! it'll run with the best of em now no more hesitation and plenty of get up and no check engine light, I do believe we have got it back up to 100% now

I hope your dad is feeling better.

Don't get too excited about it yet. I reset the computer when I got the p0236 code and it ran fine again, but later on the same trip (Butte, Mt to Colorado Springs) I got the same code to pop up after filling up in Cheyenne, WY, I reset the computer in Bozeman, MT. I had a loose belt that got stretched when my vacuum pump locked up and after replacing the belt, no codes. Remember, something caused the code to throw, and if all you did is erase it, the initial condition is still out there, so don't be surprised if it comes up again. It might have been a misread for the code so erasing might all it needed, but more chances than not, something triggered the code.

Best of luck to you and your pa.
