Question 6.5 on then off

I had ECM replaced '06,. would quit under load no sputter just like turning the key off. Would occasionally start and drive 1/4 mi. then stopped for good same day.
Replaced both fuel pumps in '09
Same symptoms today except it is not a permanent stoppage.
Throw in neutral, starts right up. might run for days no prob. Y'day quit while idleing in the yard. Went to town and back (40 miles) did it once.
Anybody experience this before thx Greg

Ignition switches do fail,do you lose the dash but the blower motor and radio keep working at the time of the stall?

Failing PMD's will also cause stalling,no hot start and no start for days at a time.
A relocation kit for the PMD should be on all 94+ 6.5's that includes a quality heatsink(big),a new PMD,a PMD resistor and a 6' extension harness so that the PMD kit can be mounted outside the underhood area-behind/under the frt bumper or behind the grill on a rad support.

Thanks Racer for your reply. Didn't notice any loss off dash or anything, as I just threw it in neutral and restarted no prob. happened 3 times in 20 miles. 60 miles later i put 235 gals water in the box (Approx 2200 lbs) ran 25 mi to my cabin w/out a prob. ran around a bit for a few days,no prob. then one day running to town for water again it quit once, but started right up again. now I assume the PMD issue is a heat thing? started the truck a few days ago at approx -4 deg F, ran for 10 min and quit. started right away again.
I will look for a kit anyway. Dealer says they can only tell whats wrong when it is failing, but they could let it run for days and have it not happen. thanks again, Greg

Don't go to the dealer unless you like being raped. 6.5's should never go to a GM dealer.

x2

I have had one decent experience with a 6.5 at the dealer. But all I had them do was get it started.
