6.5l TD will not start.
Evening everyone, I am new here but I do need some help. I am not super familiar with diesel but do have a working knowledge so be gently with me.
Ok here is the problem. My truck (1997 Silverado 2500HD) will not start, it turns over fine but does not fire. I drove it home and parked it in my heated shop and he ran fine, turned it off with no problems, went in the next morning and nothing, just turns over but will not fire.
New glow plugs about 6 months ago, just did new ignition, two brand new batteries (850 cold cranking amps), new relays, switches etc to go with this ($2500) so lots was done including some new wiring.
Had half a tank of fuel then filled up in the morning, drove around doing some errands, returned home shut it off and then the next morning would only turn over.
Asked the gas station if they had any complaints about their diesel fuel and they did not have any, owner is a friend and he drives a diesel as well.
PMD is mounted above the manifold and has never given me a problem in 70,000 km.
I haven't done any testing yet, will be downing some scanning tomorrow.
But I am thinking fuel pump, do you think I am close. By the way and don't laugh, is the fuel pump in the tank or frame mounted?
Thanks for any help.
Terry

Lift pump is frame mounted.
First reaction is PMD failed, intake mounted is the worst possible location-outside the engine bay is best,below/behind ftr bumper or behind grill on rad support are common acceptable places.
IP harness ground MUST remain on IP-moving to PMD heatsink for harness reach is unacceptable.
First test to do is crack an injector fuel line loose and see if fuel is making it's way to injectors-if no fuel try another known to be working PMD.
Also observe fuel shut off solenoid on the IP when key is turned to run-there should be a solid click that can be felt by hand.
Check fuel/sol fuse in underhood fusebox.
