It is a easy enough repair just make sure you soak it with good penetating oil prior to removing the old injector and it's a good I dea to be using good wrenches not the made in China crap IMO

Where is it leaking?
From the body or from the return lines?Lines rot out and need periodic replacement.

High mileage injectors should also be replaced as a set, ever 100,000 miles as a general rule.

Otherwise replacing just 1 changes the spray pattern on just 1 cylinder that in turn can affect timing, power output and make that cylinder run different from the rest-sometimes making life harder on the crankshaft.

Racer 55 thankyou so much. So i should just change all injectors as a set? what about those hoses? Are they the return lines that you mentioned? So a whole new set or injectors, (all 8) and lines? Where do i buy the lines? Do they come w the injectors? To replace all 8 injectors, is that something that came be done at home in a garage or do you have to be a machanic? In other words is it really hard to do? Do they just screw in or do they have to be calibrated somehow? so i can just unscrew the old one and put in the new ones? Im willing to do it. I think its leaking from the return line.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

when you say return lines, do you mean the small hoses going from injector to injector?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

what kind of tools do i need? I really wanna try this myself.

What I would do if I was you is;
Buy a set of bosch injector nozzles for your injectors and an install kit that includes return lines, copper washers/gaskets,upper intake gasket ect.(ebay or reputable diesel service center).
Take all your injectors out and have them rebuilt at your local tractor repair shop or diesel service center where you got the parts.
Have them pop tested and set to your specs eg.N/A pop pressure is:1852.2 psi Turbo is :2087.4. most set turbo injectors to 2200psi to allow the springs to soften over time and maintain correct pressure.

Here is an exaple of the correct injector socket available at most parts stores:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40

Here is an example of an installation kit:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-2-6-2L-6-5...587ff1&vxp=mtr

Some people just go to their local small engine repair shop and get tygon fuel line the correct size to replace the return lines.Yes the return lines are the small hoses daisy chained on the injectors.

Changing injectors can make for hard starting afterwards,a lot of people change 1 bank of injectors and restart the engine and run it till the air is all bled out and then do the other side to aid in starting.Tough to do when you do all 8 at once though.
If you buy newly rebuilt injectors and keep your old ones though it is a good approach.Have them pop tested prior to installation and set correctly though-money well spent and ensure that bosch, stanadyne or delphi nozzles only!

Injector torque is 50ft/lbs when installing in the head.

So an injector has two parts? nozzle and body? i thought when you replace the injector, its the whole thing? not just the nozzle. im new to all this.

There are 2 parts-nozzle and body like you said-the nozzle is the wear prt and is what needs changed-the body seldom ever is a problem.

You can buy complete units and get them pop tested provided you know the quality of nozzle installed,or you can just buy the nozzle and have your old injectors rebuilt-then there is no question on what you have.

Also it is important to know that there are long and short body injectors with different threads-need to keep this the same,I however am not sure if there is a difference in the nozzles between them?

I would assume that you have the long body injectors,Rock auto has complete bosch injectors for sale that are new,I would still get them tested locally though if you go that route.
I had to look them up as a 82 k3500 with a 6.2.

So what do you think i should do? just replace the nozzles or the entire injector and nozzle? along with gaskets and return hoses?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

and what about the lift pump? should i change that out too?
