Yeah, i know the 6.5 isn't much of a smoker. But i just bought the truck just over a month ago, so am still finding out stuff they did to it. Its just strange going form some smoke, to none at all. When i unscrew the breather on top of the fuel filter, should diesel spray out? Because I opened it with the truck idleing and nothing came out, even after a few minutes. I then took the filter housing cap off (Truck not running at this point) and it was filled with diesel.

Thanks for all your help by the way, i really do appreciate it.

Truck ran great to work and back today. But it was slightly warmer than the past few days. I have a new question for you 6.5L guys. I replaced the fuel filter, and what to bleed the system for good measure. My fuel filter has the little plastic breather on the top. I know i have to do something with the little T-handle on the front top/side of the engine. What i have found out, is in order to bleed the system, i need to jump the lift pump. Could someone tell me how to do this? (pictures would be great!)

under you're hood there is a fuel pump relay you can unplug the relay and use a paper clip to close the ciruit I am not sure which 2 to dut the paper clip into but a there are only a few combinations to choose from bleed the filter housing first then close it and open the Tvalve and repeat the process this allow you to bleed the system without killing the batteries by using the starter

Do i just open the t-valve a little bit?

Edit: I just found this on the site. Could i use this to hardwire my liftp ump to turn on

"unhook the ops connector. looking at the end of it, with the connector clip up, connect a wire lead to the far left terminal. connect the other end of that wire lead to positive lead on battery. LP should come on immediately. also check the connections at the lift pump and at the fuel pump relay"

The more open the valve the faster it will bleed IMO

Truck has been running pretty well after i swapped the PMD. Today though, i started it up, and went to leave for work. About a block from my house, there was a red light, so i started pushing the brakes and it stalled. Started right back up and went all the way to work with no problems. Ride home had no hiccups either. But to be on the safeside, i did order up a new lift pump, oil pressure sensor, and crankshaft position sensor from advance (All acdelco parts). Opted for next day delievery so if im lucky they will be here tomorrow. Wednesday at the lastest. Also tested my batterys, one tested good with 900 cca's, while the other one was marginal (could fail under 20 degrees), with about 600 cca. So hoping to pick up to new ones from work here within the week. Hopefully all this will limit my random stalling issue. I hate doing the "throw parts at it, and hope it works" technique, but with work and school, have not had time to do the diagnostics that i would like.

Truck went absolutly crazy this morning. Stalled and didnt want to start back up. After i finally got it started it limped like a dog to a park spot, in which when i pulled into it, the truck revved way up. Hopefully it doesnt do this after class

Well things definitely were not better after class. All the truck was doing was cranking over. Tinkering around for about an hour trying to jump the lift pump, and finally got some fuel to come out of the bleeder and t. Started up, and limped her home. Had to miss one class as i did want to drive 30 minutes out in the boonies to my other class. Hopefully my parts will be here soon!

A little update. Got my new lift pump, oil pressure sensor, and crankshaft position sensor in the mail. Was able to install the lift pump and oil pressure sensor before work. Yet to install the crankshaft position sensor. Truck has ran great the past few days, and actually see a little puff of black smoke under hard acceleration like i did when i first bought it.

But now onto my newest problem. I have no SES light on, but i decided to use the scanner for ***** n' gigs. It pulled up one code, which was PO236. After reading around, i have found this to be associated with the waste gate actuator. This is where my limited knowledge comes into play. Here is a picture of what my PO did to the turbo / wastegate

The black vacuum hose on the top has no vacuum going to it, and the mystery green wire looks to be holding the actuator in that specific spot. So what i 'think' is done, is a "very redneck manual wastegate". Another thing that is f'ed up, is instead of having the boost hooked up to the port the PO made on the intake, he plugged it into an orange hose, that comes up right infront of the oil fill cap. If what im reading is correct, this is a vacuum hose coming from the pump. Is this correct?

What do ya'll think is the best action i can do to resolve this issue? LIke i said, it runs great, and seems normal. So do you think the code is just there since the wastegate isnt manually operated anymore?

Thanks, sorry bout the long post
