1998 Chevy 6.5 Died and wont start
I put new thermostats in the truck, i let it run for a while with out them because i did a flush right away, the stuff said the let it run for like 30 minutes then drain it, i went up my drive with them out and it died, wont start back up, i believe its a fuel shut off selenoid, does that sound about right, i put new thermostats back in to.

Try lightly tapping on the solenoid with a screw driver this will sometimes loosen it up you may want to run 1 ounce of 2 stroke oil per gallon of fuel this will prevent any shut off solenoid issues I and lots of other 6.5 owners do this due to the Low sulphur diesel they sell nowadays our IP's dont like lsd all that well

6-8 oz of Power service grey for additive, sometimes 1 QT of cheapest brand non detergent straight non multi vis SAE 30 oil, dollar tree-dollar general etc to get a little more lubricity.
Where are you in this trouble shooting, get it running yet ?
Fuel shutoff solenoid would not be my guess unless you took it off and did not plug it back in, the solenoid where better lubricity would help is the fuel solenoid at the end of the IP that is controlled by the PMD via the PCM.
Lets look at last maint item you did assuming truck was fine prior to swapping out the T-stats (did you take off complete manifold) if so did you remember to reconnect the gnds or did you insulate them with too much RTV that disables ability for nuts to get gnd thru the stud?

The 6.5 injector pump does not like the Low Sulphur Diesel that is sold nowadays adding oil to the fuel prolongs IP life and it will keep the shut off soliniod from sticking like yours did I use Pennziol 2stroke synthetic mix myself 1ounce per gallon over a year now and have not had the shut off soliniod codes in a very long time hope all goes well in the shop with your truck Gasser mechanics tend to throw lots off parts(your money)at 6.5s because they know little about them

I hope so the Ford 7.3 fuel system is wholly different from the GM 6.5 system unless your mech is conversant with the Ford IDIs that used the same basic mech IP running the opposite direction. GM was only engine to run the DS4 electronic IP from Stanadyne
