6.5 turbo sputtering and blowing more black smoke
my 1994 6.5. kindof hard to start but always fires up. when accelerating, it sputters and shakes sometimes and blows some black smoke, and eventually it will clear out. i had orieely auto parts scan it with their cheap scanner and it came up with code 43, engine spark control module? anyway after that, i fired it up and it ran terrible, sputtering and smoking, then it died, it fired back up and eventually cleard out and i was on my way. every time i accelerate now it does this, seems to be getting worse, any ideas?
thanks

i read that the code 43 is knock sensor error, but the scanner there said it was engine spark control module... man this is irritating

think so? if i had a used parts motor, and i pulled the cps from that lets say, how could i tell if its a ac delco?
it seems like these 6.5s are great up to 200k-250k thats when they start to go sour
i never really see people working on low miler 6.5s
i added a ground to the intake from the firewall and put a new eye hole connector on a different ground that was bad, it seemed to help but it sputtered a little during the ride and today under the hood smells a little of diesel fuel, which i never noticed before

Hmmm? diesel smell check all fuel lines and under fuel filter housing and and my 6.5 was rebuilt 15K ago and the P.O. in a effort to save $ used all the old sensors and within the last 6 months I have replaced just about everyone under the hood heat, vibration and time take their toll on electronic parts and to tell if its a AC/Delco CPS it will have the magnets showing on the end that sits next to the crankshaft the cheapo parts store CPS's will not and take my word the are ****.

i think your right. i scanned my rig tonight and got 4 codes the first time,
#19 crank position sensor fault
#32 egr system problem
#33 MAP input high
#78 turbo wastegate solenoid
so i cleared them and ran the truck again for a few minutes and right as it started up the light came on and #19 was back and thats the only one that came back then
im gonna get a AC delco cps and see what happens...
