Default WHERE To Be A Cop???

Quick question.....If it were you guys would you rather be a cop in MN or ND? I know there are alot of plus' and minus' for both what do you guys think I love both states

I grew up in MN, Wayzata to be exact, and I feel most relaxed there. I want to be a cop because I love helping people so i figured I might as well be paid for it. The biggest down fall to staying in ND is If my wife is wanting to stay in her field, Athletic training, then we are limited to the major cities in ND and they have such a high number of applicants that it is hard to het hired. So i feel that if we are in MN both of our careers will flourish because of the oppertunities where in ND they are limited.

Best point of staying in ND she feels at home and is closer to her family which she loves dearly....but alteast my family is in Minnetonka so we wouldn't be alone but she would just not be able to run to williston for MOM and DAD and vise versa if we go to MN

Also I would be looking at local PD's and county sheriff's. would not mind to be a trooper but for now I would take what i could find but one day want to work for the feds. Ie DEA ATF...ect...

I dont know abot those areas but i was told be a local cop and not a state trooper. The act 120 is pretty much all you need but i do know getting a job is hard well in pa most are wanting part-time work only and its tuff to get in full time

Just on what you said I would most likely go with MN, but I try to move to areas where it benefits my career.

Keep in mind that you're talking about the 4th largest city in the country and the crime rate has skyrocketed by 27%. They cant hire officers fast enough to keep up. They are offering big incentives to come to Houston.

That might be but they are VERY selective on who they hire. Unit over on DP was turned down IIRC and so was my wife. Pasadena pays a bit better IIRC and HPD officers get shot and in shootings a lot.

You're correct sir. I still cant believe that Unit didnt get hired with HPD. Military background and several years of excellent service as a law enforcement officer should have made him a shoe in.

My son was a cop here in Wyo for 3 years....he lo9ved the hell outa it and he was very good at his job.......he made 18 bucks an hour

anyway he is now working oil riggs makin 31 bucks an hour and thinks the work is OK but it takes him from his family for 14 days at a time then he is home for 14 days and he says this is to long at work as well as too long at home

he has offers to come back as a city cop ( population 700) but the busiest intersection in the state of Wyo ......anyway he has offers for 20 bucks an hour and he wants that job back really really bad........real bad ..........but he has now adjusted his lifestyle to 30 bucks an hour and he almost cant leave the rigs now

coppin takes a special person.........me I could never do it cuz alot of dumbass people would get a bloody nose form me and the town would get sued
