Seems like every time I get a little money saved up I end up having to spend it. Taxes screwed me I owe the government and local money. My fiancé finally got a job worth having that's not temporary and granted I work at a steel mill I just cantilever catch a break.

That's what I thought. I make decent money where I work, have good benefits which is rare nowadays and I'm still pushing pennies and streching pay checks. My fiancé makes half of what I make a week and that's basically our so called "extra" cash but it's always used for bills.

I don't even want to think about how much I spend on fuel now. I know my raises haven't compensated for the cost of living in no way... I'm just glad I don't have school loans right now. Still can't ever seem to get ahead though...

I've been working on improving my fuel economy for since 2005. Fuel prices might dip here and there, but I doubt the overall trend will be anything but up.
On the positive side, our business is starting to pick up again, and there's several shop looking to hire techs, as well as other businesses looking to hire. Unfortunately it'll take a while to undo the damage accumulated during the slow times, and problems are going to continue showing up.

I don't see how people can afford a new cars, a nice home, having kids and all the bills on top of it. I'd sure like to know how they do so. Half my monthly income goes to bills almost if not more. Not including break downs, clothes, and other necessities.
