Do you get symbols? Do you have to have letters on the left and numbers on the right? Can you have spaces?

I'm adding the hyphen because I don't think it's optional.

 

As long as it's letters and or numbers adding up to 6 characters. If I got our new ugly as heck, old style Michigan blue plate, I can go 6 with a space, making it 7 characters. But the plate I'm gonna get, can only get 6 w/o spaces. Or 5 with a space, 4 with 2, and so on.
