Default The Tornado Hit Last Night

Tornado went through my farm last night and tore things up pretty good. A 30' X 70' Run in shed is a complete loss and my 40' X 60' Steel Arch Building still has the arch but both ends are gone and most of the equipment inside is done. There goes my welder, air compressor, Table saw and a good amount of other electric power tools. I'm hopin when everything dries out some of it will be saveable. What a mess to clean up.

What makes it worse is the fact that I have just within the last few weeks dropped a few grand in new trucks parts and spent more money on Christmas then I ever have in the past. We thought we were doin pretty good on finances so we were spendin away on all the stuff we were being to cheap about for a long time now. If this had to happen why not 2 weeks ago before I spent all this money.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, and hope the best possible outcome for you and your family. Mother nature seems to hit often with the worst timing. Hope everyone is alive and well, as that is the most important thing.

Sorry to hear that Dennis. The important thing is that you and the family are safe though and hopefully your house came out OK.

Its a blessing YOU and yours are ok. Material things are ALWAYS hard to see lost or destroyed but they can be replaced. As for spending, well I know exactly how you feel. EVERYTIME I too think financially we are on the upswing and buy a larger ticket item it RAINS all sorts of other problems and we then have to scrimp and scrape for months after. Hopefully you did have respectable insurance on most of your stuff and that should help take some of the burden off your shoulders. Cause I know what its like to loose a barn. Wind storm in 2002 damaged my 50x86 Frame Barn to the point we had to tear it down. I was able to rebuild a smaller pole barn in its place with the insurance money.

It's all good. No animals hurt, no people hurt and nothin that can't be replaced. Just frustrating on the timing. The bad thing is no insurance on buildings or equipment. Around here they gave me Liability in case somebody got hurt but since we don't live on the property they wouldn't insure anything else. No big deal, were trying to figure out if we just want to spend the money now and have somebody come in and put up just one nice big building that I can put everything under one roof. This keeps me from puttin a half *** building up if I do it myself.

Seems odd you couldnt get insurance on something you OWN. Cause how is that really any different than you owning a house that you rent out. You dont live in it but it still is personal property and an investment.

They consider it to high a risk cause nobody lives there. No house on the place yet.

Kids patying and theft seem to be an issue around here, although I've had the place for 10 years and not a single problem yet.

Well I know each state sets rules and laws on insurance. But I know MANY a farm around here where there are farm buildings on the place and no house and the buildings are insured............ maybe you need to become a BUCKEYE !!!!!!!!!!!!
