Wife found out Friday that "a dog" had been quarantined by animal control. They will not release the name of the owner until after the quarantine period is over or let my wife identify the animal. So we have no idea what dog they have in the dog house.

The dogs deserve it, that's for sure. I can't stand people that own dogs that do such things. If they do it defending a house or yard, fair game. I just don't think a gun is the way to go in defense. Depending on the caliber the bullet may pass right through the dog, if it is even hit, and continue on to who knows where.

Most of these animal attacks happen way to sudden, unexpectedly and fast for a gun to do you any good at all, unless it's a short barreled shotgun already in hand.

In most cases a tazer or repellent spray's are the best options. Small enough to carry in hand all the time and both non-lethal to any innocent bystanders.

Prayers and best wishes out to your wife. I hope she makes it through this intact, both mind and body. It's a serious trauma to both.

No the way the electricity works it does in and back out. That's why people can help people getting tazed to stand up.

being an owner of several dogs, i`m sorry some people are such losers when it comes to owning a dog!

I hope your wife heals up good and the owners of these dogs are caught to pay some of the medical bills and some for pain and suffering.

I think the dogs are not trained to attack but when they get into a pack they get the pack mentality and go a little wild going after anything that comes into their path

good luck and hope ya find the owners

maybe your wife needs to carry her gun and have a hand on it when out walking around

A stick with a couple nails in it is a good idea but make sure the stick is strong enough not to break when whacking on the dogs

Update. The dog was caught and quarantined. The vet said the dog was in good health and there was no health risk to my wife "at this time".
The dog has been classifies as a category 4 offender. Which means the dog remains under "house arrest" for the rest of its life. Not allowed to run free ever. The owner has to report the death or transfer of the animal and has to post vicious dog warning signs on their property. If the dog is ever seen running loose, even on the owners property, the dog will be put down.

I'm glad something happened over this. Not exactly the best outcome, but it could've been worse. Hope your wife is doing ok.

Oh, and just as an aside, did you ever find that woman friend of yours in North Carolina you were trying to find Cougar?
