Default Winter Driving Tips For Everyone !

1. When going down a snowy/icy hill put your truck in Neutral This will help keep you from losing traction , especially if you have a built Tranny

2. Be careful down shifting a manual on snowing/icy roads , Ive made this mistake , if you must down shift be sure that your going slow enough to where the tranny not going to slow the rear wheels down when you downshift if not you may as well just throw the e brake Same Difference

3. When going up a snowy/icy hill , Just Give it hell and dont give up , your not going to want to try to back down it or slide down it , get it set in your mind im making it and ride it out , I was on a gravel hill covered in ice very Steep , had to make it or walk and i wasnt walking

Huge drop off on one side ,,, I was stopped at the bottom ...turned the radio off .(Dont know Why I Do This) and just tore into it i got 3/4 way up and lost all forward momentum ... My Tires were digging at the ice and damn near melting it then getting to gravel then lunging me forward about 3 feet then repeating the rest of the way up WOT the whole time I was not going to make it in one piece if i didnt do this IT worked , Better belave when i got home i looked back at my truck , and even said Thanks ... Im burnt out i know ... Who hasnt thanked there truck out loud ?

4. Low Lock Sucks for snow/ice

5. if you have a 2WD with an open differential and you arent getting traction. apply the ebrake alittle. this will make the the friction on both wheels semi equal and both rear wheels will spin and get traction. (this will also work for the 3rd gen trash lok crappy LSDs which dont like to work unless the truck is completly level)

6. second gen dodges. remember you have rear anti lock brakes. so if you need to hit the brakes it will prevent the rears from locking and keep the *** end from coming out from behind you.

7. A hi lift (farmers jack) is one of the handiest tools. to have in your truck. it can be used as a winch and ratchet your way out of a ditch. it can lift your truck up enough to put some traction under the tires ect. I actually used it once to apply pressure against the truck to help push me out of the ditch, but you need two people.

8. SLOW DOWN!!! You will not get there if you are dead. Stopping distance are increased substantially for you and everybody else on the road. One accident can lead to hundreds if you are not prepared.

9. Gentle control movements...Do not jerk the wheel or stab the brake pedal. You will probably lose control and have to refer back to back to tip # 7

10. The gas pedal is your friend in an out of control situation. Sometimes the brake is the wrong pedal to hit. Remeber to steer opposite before mashing the gas though

12. make sure everything in your vehicle is in good working order and that you always have a full tank of gas in case you have to set somewhere over nite you can start the car a while and keep it warm enough inside to survive, keep some snacks, blankets, possibly a dry pair of pants and socks, always wear boots, take your good shoes with you, not a good idea to walk 4 miles in ankle deep snow in high heels (Dr. Evil) or shoes, make sure they are water proof and warm, you might look retarded but you will look even more retarded when you dont have any toes and cant walk from frost bite.......

All these winter driving tips make me glad I got out of a place with a real winter and came back to where theres no snow! On a more serious note, with this transmission fluid leak I have getting as bad as it has gotten, I am glad it is happening here and not somewhere where I would be knee deep in snow trying to fix it!

Or worse yet, breaking down as Logan said, and having to walk 4 miles in the snow, or not having any munchie snacks with me. heh

NO NO NO Logan...this is DIESELBombers and we drive DIESEL TRUCKS. One more outburst of foul language like that and your gonna get an infraction.

However you are correct about wearing high heels. Doc, dont wear your high heels on any road trips.
