i dunno i can think of alternatives.. i think it's sorta a good idea.. but **** limited to boats with a wind shield. a friend of mine gave me his old spot light. it bolts to the top of my cabin and i get a remote to make it go up or down and around..

kinda reminds me of one of those infomercial things.
it's gets dark here befor we get off the boat now from work. as far as i can see the best thing for night is a radar and plotter.
i agree lights are good for around the docks and other close up objects..
most boats don't go out at night any way

One trip in at dark during some 'roughies' and you'll appreciate being able to see the huge holes before the boat falls in them and your stomach hits the roof of your mouth......
But, that installation setup doesn't look like much...they're too low for anything other than long range pencil beams; floods will just reflect off the boat and make it even harder to see over the bow.
