Default Verizon DSL

I just upgraded my DSL to the 3.0MB service. I only get 1.5MB when I use a wireless connection to my computer from my Actiontec GT704WG Router. But when I connect my computer through a hard wire I get 3.6MB. Ive contacted Verizon and they tested my line and im actually geting over 4.0MB on my line which is one of the fastest lines they have seen. Just cant figure out why im only geting 1.5MB through wireless connection.

Thats interesting.. I am pretty happy with my verizon service, but that being said, I am ditching it all for Charter cable. I really don't have a solution for your problem though

Charter sucks also, If I had the choice between dial up or charter I would have dial up.

I was going to do Verizon but the new FIOS is not available in my zip code.

I have wireless and am using a Compaq laptop. I used to have Comcast and was running a D-link router. The fastes speed my laptop would ever show with that set up was 18 mps. I now have Qwest with DSL and an Actiontec router (I don't remember the model) but my laptop now transfers at 54mps which is max for the router. All of this and my wireless is still a little slower than when I direct connect. I guess my point is that it's probably always going to be slower but your wireless card in your laptop and your wireless router can dictate a lot of that.

At work we have COVAD and get 100 mps, got to say that is the fastest I have ever used. I had Verizon at college, sucked monkey butt, got Comcast out here, also sucks monkey butt. I am going to get COVAD one of these days, but there router is like $300 or so, that is what is keeping me from getting it and you need a land line for it to run on.

My bottle neck seems to occurs at the router. My desktops, are all running 10/100 cards. Two are set for 10 MB, and two for 100 MB. The router seems to be having the problem. The two hardwired ports are showing 10 MB. The two wireless ports are showing 100 MB. I'm guessing its a software issue on the router. Maybe not fully compatible w/verizon? I didn't rent their router....

That along with the firewall, spam blocker, anti-virus and who knows what else the kids have loaded, just adds to the bandwidth each of the four machines is trying to grab.
