Iphone Question
Have a question about iphones. I have a foreign exchange student from Sweden staying with our family for 10 months. I want him to have a cell phone and was going to put him on my family plan but i have maxed out the number of phones I can put on it. I was just going to get him his own contract and plan but it has a minimum 2 yr deal and he is only here for 10 months. He has a iphone and I know nothing about iphones (to high tech for me) but is there some sim card or something that could be bought and installed in his phone so he can use it here in the states at a reasonable cost? The other thought was to just get him a trac phone. He really needs something because I am responsible for this kid and I want him to be able to contact any of us at any time and vice versa. Any ideas? Thanks

Download a program that will jail break his iphone. Basically it will unlock his phone to be used with any carrier that uses a sim car. then you can get him an el cheapo pay as you go plan.
I think blackra!n is pretty for jail-breaking the iphone. Just have to make sure that he doesnt update the operating system of the phone after it has been jail-broken or you will have to do it all over again. The other option is of course to go thru ATT, but they may automatically charge you for the iphone package if he is using it that plan.

the iphone simcard is easily removed using a paperclip inserted in the hole next to the headphone hole.

Jail-breaking phone basically bypasses the "firewall" that only allows certain programs and certain carriers to be used on the phone. once jail-broke you can download free apps and use with any carrier that uses a sim card.
As for removing the sim card, Iker is correct, at least on the 2g, 3g, and 3gS. I havent seen or handled an iphone 4 to be able to comment on that one.
