wow guys... dont read the general diesel section much do you... Maybe down here I can get one response...

 

I would like to see the guage flash (probably not the best idea for daytime driving) or have a small LED inside the guage flash once a setpoint is reached. Particularily important on tranny temp, fuel press, EGT, maybe differential temp?

What do you think about the LED ?

 

these are my thoughts, send me any samples..... they will look good in the corner of my sons room with all my other crap i need to install on my truck to get it running again...

 

above sounds good cept oil psi level. on the failsafes i have at work on the waterpumps that run 24/7 i set the low oil pressure shutoff at 10 psi and coolant level to 230*. when these are reached the engine shuts down.

 

Would like to also see a low oil pressure shutdwn. Which, now that I think about it - I believe Isspro already offers this.

 

They have a turbo timer... I am sure this could be changed to something else, but I dont know how safe that would be...

Going down the road at 70 mph and loose oil pressure... I would hope it would stay running long enough to shut down safely... LOL

 

No it would only work at startup. If it doesnt see oil pressure in a certain amount of time then it shuts the engine down.

Oil pressure warning or shut down must be rev. related, otherwise you would get a constant warning during idle or stop and go. Think of an engine shut down in such a situation...

oil temperature maximum being allowed in a sump is 145°C or 293°F- but this maximum value is only valid for real synthetic oils.
I wouldn't allow it to go that high. It should stay within +/-10° degrees to the coolant under normal loads. Bigger differences indicate an unbalanced thermal engine. Could be easy displayed with an comperator.

 

Pyro... something not too distracting like yellow on solid above 1150, red flashing at 1300
Boost... Probably 40 psi
Tranny temp... no idea
Oil temp... no idea
Water temp... Yelllow above 190, red at 205 or something, indicating fan isn't working
Fuel pressure... depends on the rig i guess
Oil pressure... no idea, but there's probably a set number for this
Exhaust back pressure... no idea
Diff temp... no idea
Volt reading... I like the idea above of it only coming on if its under a set voltage for a period of time, so you don't have a warning light everytime the bassline hits. I'd say if it drops below 13.3 or so and stays there. At 12 your running off batteries
