A job is a job for the law......whether it be a $5 crime or a $5million crime it's still a crime and thus should be treated like one. Now, with that being said....he'll get his. I realize there are worse crimes going on but what if (big what if) this guy is wanted for some other, more heinous crime and has warrants out for him? Then all of the sudden it's a different story. That's why when the cops are called they HAVE to follow up, it's their job to protect and SERVE.

if you or i were to shoplift a 24oz beverage from a convienience store ya know damn well we would be busted. and rightly so.
whats right is right.
this guy is a repeat offender. they WILL take things seriously.
i sure cant understand the few here who are 'soft' on crime.
i'm glad the majority of diesel enthusiasts are good, honest people, standing up for what is right, denouncing the scum who are trying to ruin modern society.

i went to jury summons the other day and the guy was in court for misuse of county property that cost the county between 20 and 200 dollars... eveyone in the court room(exept me and a few others) were sayin "oh well i think its a waste of time to be here for this guy misusing 20 bucks" but one guy then stood up and said it before i could... the guy said "for all of you that think its a waste of time over 20 bucks... i would like for yall to stand up and give me 20 bucks".... if you ask me the same thing goes in this story, it dont matter if it was 50 or 5000... if some of yall think its a waste of time over 50 bucks think of it this way.... how would you feel if i took $50 out of your wallet and hauled azz??

I'm not soft on crime, I would kick his ***... take the $50... and move on. In all reality I don't see why the dyno operator didn't take money up front. What did they think would happen? And go shoplift a drink... I'll pay your court cost if you get taken to court over it...
8 years of ITD dynodays and never had a need to worry about taking $ up front. this is idaho. a bit different and more honest people. however outsiders are moving here and we do open our dyno events to non ITD members such as this kid. perhaps a polciy change is in order.
Big difference in a $50 theft of services and county property.

WELL,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the word has been out. he has been informed on the ITD club site and all over on the diesel truck forums. local and national. the contact number he has provided has been contacted right from the start, minutes after he fled the scene. messages left. his friends and aquaintances called and warned. he had been given the benefit of the doubt that it could've been an honest mistake for 2 weeks after. it was let known that he could just come forward and pay the bill and it would be treated as if maybe he had a brain fart and it would go nowhere else. theran kolp refused to make it right, proving what we all knew that it wasnt a brain fart and he intentionally dynoed with intent to steal services by rapidly skipping out after his dyno runs.
he was given a deadline with notification by law enforcement officials. he even had an extra 24 hours past the deadline to step forward before it came to the point of no return. it is no longer an issue of him just paying for the services he stole, but now he made this a serious matter by failing to act even when he was given a break.
now 3 law enforcement agencies are involved in this case. information is being produced to help prosecute. and with his record and past history odds are that they will go hard on this kid. a small $ amount, yes, but the principle of the thing. and it IS a crime. the fact that he is a habitual offender will multiply things. the fact he has done time and been on probation will make things tough on him, as it should.
this kid has gotten a break and thumbed his nose at MM. my opinion is that with what witnesses stated about his behavior regarding the fact that he intentionally skipped out with intent of stealing, law enforcement should've been called on the spot.
now the process has started and they are proceeding. someone better buy theran some soap on a rope
