Man $400 is nothing! haha. Especially for something as fun as a bike that'll keep you in shape. It's a good investment. That looks like a great bike. You should tell your dad to get one, too! That's a good deal. Bike technology has come a LONG way in the last 15 years. When I got my first mountain bike it was a full rigid, didn't even have V-brakes. Then V-brakes came out, and aluminum frames, then even cheap bikes had front forks...now even Wal Mart bikes have disc brakes and full suspension.

I remember when I was Mikeys age - there were $400 bikes back then and that was awhile ago. A buddy had one and I believe it was also a Mongoose BMX

The problem was my old bike that I got for free from a neighbor was a piece of junk and was starting to fall apart on me. We already had to put thread lock on one of the pedals because It was falling off everyday on my way to school. Believe me If I didn't need it my dad wouldn't have gotten it. every other bike I have gotten was at the most 150.00 dollars this is the nicest and most expensive bike I have owned

I bought one of the mongoose wal-mart bikes two years ago. I only use the thing for one long weekend every year when I go camping, so I can ride it to the bathroom.

The first one broke the second day of operation. I was riding around the campsite and trying to wheelie over some roots and riding it down of a 12" drop, and the likes. I went to pedal and the gears inside stripped or broke or whatever and it would no longer pedal.

I went and returned it to wal-mart and got another one (exact same bike). Both bikes, the handlebars loosened way up on me while riding them to the point they would all of a sudden shoot straight down. (something to look out for, tighten EVERYTHING on that bike!).

I wish I would have just went and bought a nicer bike and paid the $700 or whatever for something that was quality. I went against my beliefs (of not shopping at wal-mart for anything) and bought that mongoose and it bit me in the ***.

Just a fair warning!
