Cool stuff but way to limited in it's uses to be practical at all. In the case of Marines use it would work to open up lanes and LZ's on the beach heads but past that. In the case of most of the terrain that the active fighting is going on in it's to mountainous and rocky for this to be of much use. It would be brought to a stop pretty quick on any solid ground.

For years they have used attachments on the front of tanks as mine sweepers that use rotating chain's like a combine head to detonate mines out in front of the vehicle. This makes the one vehicle multi purpose and for practicality makes it a more viable option.

Those critters aren't too new...

I know that they had them during the invasion of Baghdad at the start of this war, and I want to say that they had them during the invasion of Baghdad at the end of the last war.
