GOLF ADVICE FOR THE FIRST TIMER
well today i set out for an exercise in frustration. the company is having a "9 hole golf scramble" this afternoon. i tried to get out of it but the wife and SIL say i'm supposed to do these things to participate in company moral or WTF ever so here i go. other than planning on drinking 2.5 beers per hole, i have no plan.
this will be the first time i've ever used a golf club for its intended purpose. so....
anybody got advice?

There is no advice i could offer except you may want to up your beer intake quota so you have more of a reason for looking as silly as you will the first 100 times you swing that club.
My first golf game was very ammusing to my buddies and very frustrating to me. It takes ALOT of practice just to get your swing right and then there are all kinds of other variables to consider mastering. Take some lessons would be my suggestion - oh wait, you said this afternoon? No time fer lessons. Just don't get too frustrated and you'll make it through. pick out someone who knows what they are doing and pay close attention to every move they make when they address the ball and swing.

yeah i won't be doing lessons. my guess, unless i really surprise myself is that i'll golf until i'm forced into it again.
10-4 on upping the beer intake. that's not an issue. we're closin gup shop today at 2. golf doesn't start until 3:30. that's an hour and half for me to prime the system.

ok. that's something i know i'll struggle with. i've heard too hard ruins it so i guess i'll have to figure out where the line is.

The only way I can golf is with beer. I average 2 per hole on the front nine and 1 per hole on the back nine. So needless to say I am feeling good by the time I get done. Other than drinking my only other advice is just try to have fun, don't worry about how you do just have a good time and don't concentrate on the game, I play wy better when I am just goofing off.

Exactly. When you get set for the drive stare the ball down and do not take your eyes off of it all the way through the swing. Your body will naturally follow through as long as your head is down and you dont take your eyes off the ball. As everyone said dont try to crush it because you will either hook or slice like a demon. One of the biggest mistakes made is that people dont follow through with the swing. Head down, firm grip, eyes on ball and dont blink or look away, slow back swing, dont crush it, follow through with the club and your head..

For me the hardest part is keeping my eye on the ball. I have to admit it is alot of fun if you are out there with friends.
