So, when my husbands graduates from basic training I plan to fly out to San Antonio.

so ill be driving myself out to the air port... but..what do i do with my vehicle?

and how in the world do I make sure I know what I'm doing when I book a flight?

needless to say.. I'm confused

if anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it

most airports have a parking lot dedicated to travelers vehicles. If i remember right, they charge you so much a day to leave it. I think its not a bad idea. A well lit parking lot with security cameras everywhere. As far as booking a flight Get online on what ever air airline and look for what is going to TX and pick the times and dates you would like to leave. they will send you confermations (sp?) .
at least thats what my wife and I did. Im sure you could always go to your closest Airport and do it that way. idk . good luck!

Most airports have a extended stay parking lots and it is a cheaper rate ,but you may have to take a bus to the airport.Bus service is free most places to and from the lot that is usually owned by the airport.Booking fights you can call direct (to the airport)or use expedia.com or travelocity.com plan in advance. My guest is that you are flying out of Nashville International Airport (KBNA)to San Antonio International Airport (KSAT).

It can be alittle intimidating the first time around going through and airport. My advice to you would be to get there early before your flight leaves. There are people all over that are there to help you get to where you are needing to be. Just have the flight info with you and knowing what gate you fly out of and there are signs (kinda like road signs) that will tell you where you need to be. After you go through a couple of the connecting flight airports you will be a pro at it . Just take a deep breath. Ill share a little story not to worry you or nothing but an experience I had. Myself and my wife just married right out of high school never having been much out of our home town on our own let alone on a plane to a foreign state was going to Disney land for our honey moon Had help from our parents getting on the plane in Denver no prob bet to Anehiem CA. go thru the airport in CA no prob get to the hotel rest of trip goes of without a hitch. Well we get back to the airport to come home get on the plane again no prob. Here we go start to take off and then start heading out over the ocean. Holy hell WTF!!!!! we are on the wrong plane I start freaking out. I get a stewardess and ask are we on the plane to Denver? She said why? Cause we are over the ocean she said yea the plane has to fly over the ocean and turn around and head to denver just how the runways are set up it will be ok. Well PHEW. Needless to say we made it back home ok.

...they check your ticket probably 3 times - you can miss a plane but its impossible to get on the wrong plane

Just stay calm and be polite when asking for help or directions. People in airports are highly stressed and a little politeness goes a long ways. Long term parking close by is convenient but can run you upwards of $15-$20 a day so you might want to check out all the options before you go. Give yourself plenty of extra time and just go with the flow.

I missed a plane last week and had to wait 13 hours in DIA. I just got drunk and watched the people go by to kill the time, it was actually kind of fun.

Taking a ride-share shuttle to and from the airport is an option that is cheaper than long-term parking if you're going to gone for around a week or longer and live relatively close to the airport.
