What a bunch of ignorant morons!!!

Animal-rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) wrote a Jan. 21 letter to organizers of the annual Groundhog Day spectacle in Punxsutawney, PA, demanding that the live groundhog used each year on Feb. 2 be replaced by a robotic version, USA Today reported Wednesday.

The paper showed a letter written by Gemma Vaughan, a PETA "Animals in Entertainment specialist," to Bill Deeley, president of the Inner Circle of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, in which Vaughan appeals to him to "make the compassionate decision to use an animatronic Phil and retire the live groundhogs who are used for Groundhog Day activities to a sanctuary."

Vaughan goes on to say that the groundhogs "become stressed when they are exposed to large, screaming crowds; flashing lights from perhaps hundreds of cameras; and human handling."

In response, Deeley told the Associated Press that Phil is kept in a climate-controlled environment, is inspected annually by the state Department of Agriculture and is "being treated better than the average child in Pennsylvania."

 

As a member in good standing of PETA, ( People Eating Tasty Animals), I concur. These people are MORONS!

if they take phil away and use a robotic version it will one crush the people that come to the **** hole town of punxy that is beside its self with groundhogs. any body every been to punxy every fricken building and every corner has something to do with a ground hog like the fire dept has a groundhog statue dressed in a firemens uniform and so on for the rest of the businesses in punxy, the people that come there every year for a tradition that has been going on for who knows how long, and it will also cost a good deal of money which could be spent a lot better like for sending these peta people to their own little island where they can talk bout animals together where we dont have to hear about it

Some people need to find better things to do in life then worry about a groundhog who gets better care then the ones in the backyard..ugh...stupid people are everywhere.

 

Those people are braindead.
They was complaining last year in seattle WA. about the people at pikes place market throwing fish around.They said it was inhumane.
