:humm: Never had used them but sounds like there is alot of wisdom here on the subject. My truck had new batts when I bought it but when it comes time to replace them it will definatly be a Optima dry cell sounds like they are worth the extra $$

TPC, just curious why you chose the Red tops over the blue or yellow.

Blue is a marine deep cycle, yellow is a deep cycle for high loads (like winching) and red is a starting, the red hold the longest/highest cranking power for hard starting vehicles.

Here is my SINGLE red top starting my 89... It does not even slow down cranking...

Ha... yeah, I know that video. Thanks man. I've always run yellow tops, as you said, high load, deep cycle, but that was in Jeeps and Cars with lots of sound equipment.

Two cars: One Jeep, one VW,

Batteries:two red tops, because of cold CCA'S for both Diesels: first nine years old, second two years old.
Never had a failure or dead battery.

Complete neigbourhood: cheapest lead acid batteries- cranking and start problems every day.

Me: standing behind the kitchen window having an extra cup of coffee.

Result: priceless- best investment I ever did.:yeah:

Ha! That's funny. I have a Jeep, a TDI, and big Dodge.

I had a Yellow top in my jeep and it had set for about a year and half. The batt was totaly dead, alternator would not charge it. I hooked up a 1/2 amp trickle charger for about 3 days and it was good as new. Can't beat gel cell or dry cell batts for realiability and strength.
