Default Got to see the death wobble!!!

On Monday I was headed west on I-40 going into Albuquerque NM in the Peterbilt. I was passing a fairly new 4 door jeep wrangler when all of the sudden the front end started shaking like mad. The front tires were going all different directions. I thought I was fixin to see a wreck. The driver just very calmly eased over to the shoulder slowed it down until it quit and then got back on the road. As I watched him in the mirror not even a mile down the road it did it again One of the wildest things I have ever seen. I have experienced the death wobble once in my old 97 Ram but never seen it. Oh BTW the jeep was stock.

Had a VW bug a 100 years ago and the dampener went out and it would do that if you hit a bump

My jeep grand cherokee did that I reacted the same way just pull over and start again. It shook like hell sometimes out of the blue and sometimes just when you would hit a bump mostly from 50-55 if you could speed through that range you'd be ok. For the longest time I couldnt figure it out then I had had enough and set aside a weekend was going to tear the whole front end piece by piece started with the steering stabilizer got it off was WASTED!! went to the parts store got a new one slapped it on has been great ever since. But yea the death wobble can be some scarry *****.

Id like to see it in slow motion. I bet we could figure out what causes it if we could see that! My truck did it so often that I did exactly what the jeep did, pull over and slow down till it stops and take off again. I used to get so mad Id swear my teeth were gonna shatter from clenching. 2007 truck (was one year old at the time) and 3 dealerships couldnt figure out what one of the dealerships did to cause my death wobble to start up. Steering stabilizer made it go away though.....hopefully forever!

Yea its amazing what those steering stabilizers do for the death wobble cant imagine that one little absorber like that could stop such a violent action. I think alot of time the stabilizers are overlooked I know I was guilty of that would have never guessed.

To see it in slow motion on a big screen would be very helpful. All the other cars around him hit the skids and cleared a path.
