a Lady was showing me last night that if you have a camera that is allot of megapixels then when you download the pics onto the puter you can blow em up pretty good...............................now I am wonnerin bout the need for a huge zoom

Well yes more megapixles lets you blow pics up to 8X10" or larger. But you need the zoom to bring in distant objects without having to get close.

Whit, Mega-megapixels is a marketing gimmick that people have gotten hood-winked on for years now. You won't be able to see the difference between a 5 mp and a 15mp pic. Here's one of many debunking stories on the net. You're better off looking for top quality lenses, like Zeiss. Here's a nudder wun.

I dont care what that says, if you want to blow up pics - you have to have more megapixles. Ive blown up many pics (8X10" usually) with a number of different different cameras and different megapixles and the more megapixles you have the better the results are. Of course, opinions may vary.
Of course, skill of the photographer and lighting conditions play a huge part too.
