Over the years I have gathered up quite the collection of truck parts that are valuable but I have come to the realization that I don't need them and they're hard to sell locally for what they are worth. My question is, is it a pain to deal with selling large parts on ebay that have to be shipped? Transmissions, axle's, these types of things. I have tons of small parts ranging in the $20- $500 value that would be easy to ship, just have never looked into this avenue though I have bought large items off there and just went and picked them up.

If you want to ship it via big truck just contact a shipping broker, they're all over the internet, and they will make all arrangements. Things like axles, tires and trannies can just be strapped to a pallet and they're ready to roll.

UPS and Fed Ex have like 70 pound weight limits and Fed Ex freight is a little heavier but these shippers also cost more.

Easiest way is to put it in your add that you will haul items 30 miles or so, or however far your willin to go and shipping arrangements are the buyers responsibility. This way they arrange shipping and you just deliver it to the trucking terminal.

 

Why didn't I think of that?

 

I'd try Craigslist first.....no fees and the people come to you.

 

Can't say I'm a big fan of Ebay but Craigslist is way to full of scammers.

 

That's why I only do cash on CL...I've had better luck selling stuff for better prices and no shipping mess either. Maybe it's because of my location as well. Sure I get scammer emails asking for the old I'll send you a check and you send me the balance BS but I get those from eBay as well.

Scammers come out of the woodwork with CL. Just make sure you get the money first before letting go of your merchandise. They basically have all kinds of scams they run or attempt to run.
My boy had his truck and laptop on CL at the same time. You would laugh at the scam emails he got (I'll have my secretary cut you a check and then I'll have my movers come by and pick up the vehicle. Yeah right, any one who has means to have people do this for them would not be buying a fairly used $2,k p.u.!!)! But the best was the day a UPS Red envelope (Over night) showed up with a check inside for 2 grand. No letter, note or anything other than the check. I asked him what it was for and it didn't exactly match either item. He also hadn't heard from any of the names on or around the envelope. Seems the name and return address on the outside were different than the name and address on the check inside. This is such a wide spread problem, that I contacted the bank the check was from and they didn't even want to know about it. All I was able to find out is that the check was not payable. Seems the account number on this check is not a checking account . . . Go figure!
