I got a free membership from Taurus when I bought a handgun. I probably will not renew it tho. The NRA has done just as much damage as good for gun rights, they just seems like a wash to me. It they were such defenders of the 2nd amendment they should be contesting ever law restricting firearms put into legislation. You have the RIGHT to BEAR arms. BEAR means to carry at all times anywhere. The NRA was responsible for the very first gun restriction law in existence. But they have done great things to stop others. But they have been involved in a long line of restrictive laws. THey have even comdemned some of there own rights activists.
I'm not knocking them or praising them, they have a purpose, but sometimes they are too political than representative.

Since president Heston died the NRA has steadily just gone down hill to where now it seems like they are nothin more then PETA with a different name counting on strong arm and scare tactics to sell their ideas instead of good old fashioned straight up education that they used to promote. We live in a world where drama sell's though so I guess they are jut fittin in, with somebodies crowd but not mine.

They called me last year and played this message from LaPierre (sp) and then came back on the line and asked me to send some more money. I told them "I am not going to send anymore money and he kept hounding me, when he finished talking I told him that I was tired of them nickel and diming me to death". Then he asked me how I felt about the U.N. I told him "I don't even know why the damn U.N. exists". Three days later I got a Lifetime membership application in the mail. I just ripped it up and put in the circular file. I guess it worked because I haven't received anymore mailings or calls.

Have been a lifetime member for quite a number of years, don't get phone calls or any BS mailings, get a few e-mails every once in a while but no big deal there.

Member, Cert. RSO, Cert. Instructor, as well as recruiter for them in my spare time.(hand written apps. only) not involved more than that Don't work for them in any $$paid$$ form other than our 4-H rifle club gets $5.00 for every renewal I sign up. I receive no phone calls. If they tick you off again , I would suggest simply hanging up.As far as all the B.S. mailings, If, and when you renew tell the recruiter to write "limit direct mailings" across the the top of the application. This should almost eliminate the B.S mailings, 'cause it does tick me off when I get those in the mail as well. Of course you can just use the circular file without opening as well; but it is still a waste of our donated money, and that is what ticks us all OFF after all.
