sounds good but dont ya think if you owned a vehicle for 5 years and the trans goes bad they will do a background check and see that you never changed the trans fluid and wham void the warranty..... seems like a perfect plan but I can see the clouds darkening!

yeah i could. and maybe that's what they're kind of trying to do with the "mandatory powertrain inspections". my guess is that if they inspect it, tell you that you need it, and you decline, then you just lost the warranty. there's fine print in this somewhere that you can be sure of.

From Dodge

"*See dealer for a copy of limited warranty and details. Non-Transferable. Not available on SRT, Diesel vehicles, Sprinter, Ram Chassis Cab, and certain fleet vehicles"

I think that you might have to have all service done at the dealer or have service records to be able to take advantage of the warranty. That means that you have to change fluids in everything on time and have it done at the dealer. Or at least that is what I would think would be the catch.

well i got a little more info tonight. there honestly isn't a "catch" you get this powertrain inspection done like you're supposed to and all is good. if it's not a factory REQUIRED maintenance service you don't have to do it. the dealer might try to sell you something but if it's not in your factory manual you don't have to do this. and....here's some more really cool news. you will be able to buy a chrysler LIFETIME BUMPER TO BUMPER EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR $2500. that's right guys!!!! for $2500 you will be able to purchase lifetime bumper to bumper coverage for your vehicle. if you have ever purchased an extended warranty you can appreciate this because it's hard to buy a 100K mile bumper to bumper warranty for $2500. seriously, chrysler has taken it to an entiely different level now.

^^^ that is some good info. I am trying to convince my roomate to get his new car soon before they realize how much this is going to cost and stop providing it.

This warranty is not transferable and theres only a handfull of peeps who will keep and drive one for over 2-3 years before they want a new model...thats what they are banking on. However, i would buy one and drive it till the wheels fell off and then have them put new wheels on it...

^^^^^ exactly. plus they're buying market share with this. my buddy told me his dealership sold 15 MORE CARS yesterday than they do on a typical saturday. i don't think that's a coincidence. i don't think they'll have the market cornered on this for too long tho. the same investment group that bought chrysler owns a majority in GMAC. what are the odds the general's gearing up to match??

and another rumor i heard last night....

dodge is seriously considering a 250K mile warranty on the cummins powertrain.
