Plinkin around in the backyard with a bb gun rather than all the time with say a .22 does promote good gun safety and marksman ship JMO

Gun safety is number one.
I gave mine 1022’s when they were 5.

get him this.

If he can handle it, you're done.

Merkel Custom .416 Rigby Double W/Zeiss Optics : Other at GunBroker.com

Seriously, though....stick with the Red Ryder to start with.

When he gets older and can **** a good spring gun, get a RWS Diana 34.

I've had my 34 .177 for about 20 years and just bought the 34 Panther in .22 this summer. synthetic stock and factory TruGlo sights.

10 shots inside a nickel at 15 yards, and the .22 caliber will kill squirrels, rabbits, cats.... etc.....and that 10 shots in a nickel isn't very good--these things are capable of insane accuracy, like same-hole groups.

$25 is nothing for an air gun.....last tin of pellets I bought for my Webley was more than that.

The Daisy Buck is a great kid's first BB gun. Good choice.
