well it is that time of the year sooooooooooo.....


if it rains the ducks will come,and so will the geese. let the heavens open up and pour water till the earth can take no more, and large body's of glorius water appear on the once burnt golden prairie grass and sand dunes. LET IT RAIN MY SON! LET IT RAIN!

Never could understand all you crazy *** duck hunters. Get pissed off about good weather and just bite yer lip till it is cold and rainy as hell so you can go play on the lake. I'll hunt about anything that moves but you all are nutz.

 

never been able to bag a duck...just cant throw that dog high enough

 

its not only duck hunting and bad weather. every time ive been able to shoot an elk i had a fresh snow the night before. never they day before but always the night before.

 

Even I can appreciate a good snow fall and Elk would be more then worth a little discomfort but ducks.

I've shot a few geese when they happened to fly to close Years ago an old guy told a me recipe for goose that taste better then any other I've come across yet.

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Put the goose in a large roasting pan and cover it with sauerkraut.
Cover with a lid and bake for approx 2.5 hours.
Remove from oven and promptly throw the bird away.
Serve kraut smothered in juice from baking pan.

Lots of grease and nothin but nasty tastin them geese are. Never tried duck.

 

ha ha ha ha try basting a duck in concentrated orange juice on the grill. and for geese cover top of goose with bacon and stuff it with sliced apples. oh and i LOVE WINTER! you can always put on more clothes to warm up but you can only take enough clothes of to cool down

 

Now for taste ya can't beat the cornfed whitetails around the midwest here. Around here we can grow deer bigger then we can grow our cattle and that's sayin somethin. And I'm not even gonna mention our cornfed women.

Our early season goose just ended on wed. We got out a few times and hammerd em pretty good. Got 16 between two of us on the second hunt but the last few the geese were a bit smarter and we ended up with 25 for the season.

Headed out scoutin for ducks in the AM dependin on the storms comin our way. Season opens next weekend!!!

 

opening weakend this weekend. we shot 9 saturday and 17 sunday. not to bad i suppose. cant believe we had ice in the pond saturday.
