i use a troy bilt, 4 cylce. it seems to be pretty good. it gets done everything that i need it to, and then some. i like not mixing fuel and it fires up everytime with minimal effert. only gripe with it, it took a while to get it to run right. when i got it, the plug was wrong, fixed that, then took a while to get the idel right on it. i have had it about a year and a half, and runs better now then ever. it also has multiple attachments, not sure how many but i never used any. also the line is very, very, very easy to rewind. i think i picked it up at lowes or home depot for a resonable price. i am not sure what you are lookin to do, but it works great for around the house and for our multiple probertys we own.

i like the stihls, makes they have a new head for it that is easy to restring, but ive never had anything else. make sure you get one with a straight shaft that way you can put a blade on it if you want too. The blades are super good for big weeds.:U: ive seen a few people with fourstroke weed eaters and they like them alright.

i use a stihl fs90 4mix at the house but we use stihl fs130 4mix for the comercial use the commercial ones are 4-5 years old and start like new today and they have 1000+ hrs id have to guess

4 strokes are nice. Get a straight shaft that detaches so u can get different attachments. Stringer, edger, hedge trimmer, chain saw, tiller, etc. They even make propane powered one now too.

My best advice would be echo or stihl the weed wackers they sell at Home depot and lowes are pretty weak. To get a good weed eater go to your local Stihl or echo dealer.
I went in to buy a Stihl weed eater from a Stilh/ Echo dealer and the dealer told me the best weed eater was probably the Echos.Chain saws a different staory Stihl all the way.

Robin is the best weed eater I've ever ran by FAR!

O Echo all the way. And if you have a lot of fence row or areas you have to weed eat cause it can't be mowed, get a commercial grade model. It won't overheat and crap out on you. They're also good for your blood pressure. If u know what I mean. LOL
I own a landscape company on the side to so I've made the dumb decisions already. Get a high quality one with attachments. Make sure it fits you too! It needs to be balanced and lightweight but powerful too. If u wait a few months for the offseason you could find yourself a steal of a deal!

i work at a john deere and a stihl dealer and if you just want a weed eater with the string and you can still find them.. get a john deere... they just stopped making them and are going for 150ish... thats what we have them for... straight or curved shaft... we use a john deere at work for lawn care stuff.. i use it 4-5 hours a day... its mixed fuel and pump the primer a few pull it about 5 times and let it warm up.. they run great... but if you want to get attachments for it... go with a stihl... ive go a stihl staight shaft at home with those bike handles.... its a weed trimmer, brush cutter, tiller, hedge trimmer, and pole pruner... that thing is f***n sweet... thats the real multipurpose one if you want one of those... they run great and stihl has that easy start thing... i think you just pull the cord once... and its "spose" to start... ive never tried the easy start.. so idk..

John Deere weed whips are built by Kawasaki and I like them, I have a deere that runs like a top 2 echos that are junk, and 2 stihls that still work fine and they have been through hell and back
