Unfortunately even .22LR is getting hard to come by. Both the local gun shops have near $50.00 price tags on single bricks of Remington Vipers! Thankfully my wife works at Walmart on the night shift. She's there when the ammo truck shows up. Problem is, there's usually nothing on it! She has been able to get me quite a few 550 rd "value packs" of Federal .22LR with 36gr hollow points for $13.70 minus her 10% employee discount. Was even able to scarf up some Winchester 100 rd value packs in 9mm for $19.99 minus the discount. Problem is, they even limit their employees to 2 boxes of rifle and pistol ammo per day.

I have read, as long as it is stored in a cool, dry place, ammunition will last forever, Heat and moisture is what causes ammunition to fail.
