an oscar
Food Habits
The natural diet of oscars consists largely of smaller fishes, crustaceans, gastropods, and aquatic insects or insect larvae. Although oscars are generally sluggish or inactive, they are capable of ambushing and capturing fleeing prey over short distances. Oscars in captivity exhibit voracious, somewhat indiscriminate feeding habits.

OK OK just got back from wally world And i found out the issue here ...

I looked back at the beta fish tag and it said aquarium buddies Ghost Shrimp , African Frogs and a few others i called BS on it and told them that little frog killed my boys fish they said Thats because you have a female beta ... Heres the Tag for the female and it had completely different buddies So ... duhhhhhhhhhhhh who would of thought it ,

So We got a MALE beta and a ghost Shrimp thats Knocked up you can see the eggs and put them both in there with the frog ,

I looked at the oscars $10 a piece NO WAY and they dont look violent till you look at the bottom of the tank and see every other kind of fish dead

I didnt get one , i paid 29cents for the shrimp and $3 for the beta ...

huh, I had a red Beta for years. That darned fish out lasted everything I ever had in mine.
I mixed mine in with all sorts of things, sword fish, head n tail light, Gorami, Angels, ummmm.......... the obvious Plucostimus, n a few others.

I have an old book that I used to build mine up. It has compatibility of certain types in it.

Thats a great lookin tank u got there! I cant immagine how much work them things r. I never exceeded 30 Gal.
It is a pretty good amount of work too.
Good to hear your boy is doin a good job DM, u must be doin somethin right!

The boy learns to feed them and clean the tank
The Bubbles puts him to sleep
The Light is like a nite light for him

Thats pretty much why he has some fish
