Default Gun show madness!

We took my brother's Springfield XD .45 to the local gun show this morning to sell it. It's the first one we've had there in over 2 years, due to "lack of interest". No one ever went because it was a small show, only about 100 tables.

Got there 15 minutes before the posted start time (9:00), but they had already opened the doors. Had to wait in line for maybe 10 minutes to pay our $4.00 entry fee and for the Sheriff to inspect the guns to see if they were loaded and throw a zip tie on to keep the action open.

We went down the first isle and started down the second when we were stopped by a feller wanting to check the XD out. Long story short, pistol and cash traded hands. We walked the rest of the show just to see what was there. We looked over the last table at 9:30, which, by then, the place was so full, a fly would have to go outside to fart. Instead of trying to push through the crowd, we left out of a door in back. We walked around the building to leave and were greeted with a line of people waiting to get in that was OVER 100 YARDS LONG and cars were coming down the road and pulling into the lot like a train on rails! Glad we got there early!

Same thing all over the country... We just had one here a few weeks ago, and it was mobbed. A lot more people, I'd sax 2-3 times more people, than what usually show up.

Yeah, I got the last AR receiver at the show. Somebody said there were almost 100 there when the show started, and withing 8 hours they were all gone.

The cheapest complete AR I saw was over $1300, and the cheapest AR-10 was $1800, and it was a basic DPMS Sportical. AK's were going for $700+, along with CETME's and FAL's... It was ridiculous. All this stuff was almost half this price a year ago.

I'm even having a hard time finding 40s&w brass! it cracked me up that it made the national news when texas gun stores ran out of AR's within a week of the election results!

for those of you interested in being able to legally keep your guns without becoming a criminal, PLEASE pay attention to when people post up legislation alerts!! the current administration and congress are going to very aggressively try to turn all of us gun owners into criminals. we the people still have at least a little bit of say in what those crooked politicians pass into law...and don't start posting up the "they can come to my house and try to take 'em" bs, either.

The day after the election, Johnson's country store out here in NY had people lined up at the door at 8AM... The store doesn't open til 9. They sold out of AR's, AK's, FAL's, CETME's, SKS's, and all the ammo they had for them in less than 3 hours. All the mags were gone, everything. He was cleaned out.

If anyone here hasn't already, I'd really like to encourage them to join the NRA Official National Rifle Association of America Home Page. No they don't call you every day asking for donations, though you may get a mailer every month or so. The NRA's prime objective is to go head to head with all the anti-gun politicians and their ideas they are trying to press through congress. They battle them on the "front lines"...aka, the court room, which is where the yearly dues you pay to be a member go, along with any extra coins you decide to send in. Your $35.00 a year nets you your membership, plus a free subscription to "American Hunter" or American Rifleman" magazines, $5000.00 worth of accidental death or dismemberment insurance, $1000.00 stolen firearms coverage, plus a lot of other incentives.

Out of the over 30,000,000 gun owners in the U.S., only about 3,000,000 are NRA members, which I think is pretty pathetic, considering all 30,000,000 of us will be bitching and moaning when all the anti-gun legislation starts getting pushed through. The more members the NRA has, the more $$$ they have to fight for our 2nd Amendment Rights. Come on guys. It only takes a couple minutes and costs less than a half-tank of fuel to help keep things the way they are. Remember, without the 2nd amendment, we have no way of truly protecting the other 26!
