Well it is true that nothing can out run a radio, but that doesn't mean they can't still get away. Yes I will agree that they also endanger people while in pursuit of someone. That is why if the pursuit does get to dangerous, they will be ordered to back off a little. Yes the lights and sirens help to alert people to the officers whereabouts, but there is a lot of people that just don't care, or don't listen to the siren. The police officers over in NY are not allowed to talk on there cell phones while driving, just like everyone else. Now I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but they are not allowed. The Department had to buy headsets for everyone that had a department cellphone. While driving down the road, I never used the laptop in my car, only when I was parked somewhere would I start typing on it, now I'm not saying that it doesn't happen (I would guess it doesn't, but it might)
My whole thing about this cell phone ban, is they did studies on it and more people were involved in a vehicle accident changing the station on there radio then there was accidents from cell phones. Now don't get me wrong, yes some people should not talk and drive at the same time, they are doing good just to drive.
Just my 2 cents !!!

i grew up at the local police station, i wasn't in trouble.
i was there most nights after school growing up. i like police officers. alot of the are big hippocrates. one here was fired from on department because he shot out the window at the local shopping center. there was a robbery. but he shot at his own reflection.
and other hit an old lady in a cross walk. that got hushed up real quick.
one was telling girls i won't give you a ticket if you go out in the woods with me.
that went to court. he's not a cop any more.
an other was talking to me one night when we was lifting. i can't remember the conversation but he pointed right out. if u and i was to go to court the judge will always believe a cop of a civilian.
i guess after that i got a little sour against cops. besides that i haven't had many problems out side of the average speeding ticket.
i have a couple other long stories i'll save for an other day

my work is in the town i live in and i pretty much drive around my hometown so i know where all the speedtraps are and all the hiding spots are so this is where i do the majority of my speeding. when i do go out of my zone I try to go the speed limit and when i do pass cops i hardly ever get people flashing lights at me so i dont do it for them either.

Thank you for that, I used to drive truck OTR (48 states/Canada)for over 1 million miles and have become hardened to extend any extra-ordinary kindness to anything with 4 wheels or less, I now drive locally and have become even more hardened. I have honestly tried a few times recently to be kind, but its obvious that lately, the majority of the driving public has no respect for anyone else driving on the same road....especially for trucks! On a good note,in my experience the mid-west does have the best drivers for keeping with these acts of "kindness" towards others though..IMO

I don't understand people NOT being courteous or at least situationally aware about big rigs...a set of wheels weighs more than the average car, why on earth are so many people okay with cutting the tractors off?!?! I flash my headlights to let 'em know they're clear to move over; or notice when there's one movin along a little faster, I'm not scared to slow up a bit and block traffic so they can move over and pass another rig.
and I've never even driven anything more than an F550 on highway...

stupid can be fixed!
I remember getting flashed, and not having a clue as to what was going on, but it only took a couple of times untill I noticed the squad car and put 2 and 2 together.
it is a conditioned response,
people catch on, possibly later than sooner.
the more flashing they see, the sooner they might get it.
I say keep flashing

I used to do it up until a couple of years ago. Then over in NY and CA (I think) there were some people gunned down because they flashed there lights at someone. They (PD) told us it was a gang initiation or something. Also at night the gang members would run with the headlights off, and if you flashed them they would gun you down, and anyone in the vehicle. I haven't heard anything about this in the last couple of years, but you never know.

I don't always flash, but I always let semi's merge in. People hate it and like to kiss my rear bumper, but when I'm in my duramax they can s--- -- ----. You're right, people are completely inconsiderate and ignorant towards semi trucks, they completely take advantage of them... I've been considering driving for a couple years for my uncle, but he always tells me how terrible it is driving these days, especially in Calgary or other larger urban areas. Makes my blood boil. I don't understand how someone can be the nicest person face to face, and then when they drive they turn into a complete ****.
