Default vista help

the other day my g/f computer quit starting right. Well everything loads until you select a user then a black screen but I can run task manager and try to start windows explorer but that doesn't work. says error. I can run internet explorer etc. Just have no basic menu or background, the windows key will not work either. how do I fix this? Wont let me update either

Try restarting in safe mode. If it still acts up, going to have to erase the hard drive and reinstall Windows.

come on there has to be something I can do.. not that again. my computer been fine hers 2nd time with issue same setup same network what gives

no but does watch you tube horse videos and such. also transfers the tivo to it too. She not into **** so I just don't get it.

I have an external hard drive and my computer will do the same thing if i try to restart with the power on to the hard drive .... Unplug any thing you have connected via USB and try again

I have not 1 issue with vista I like it all but her computer. going to try the usb stuff now

Sounds like you have either spyware or a virus. I would scan your computer with a anti-spyware and a full scan virus scanner.
Also I would run them both in Safe-mode that way none of the .dll files tries to load with Windows.

Forgot about hardware compatibility. Unplug all the cords, except the power cord. Unplug the cables on your floppy drives, remove the sound card, video card, pretty much everything that you can but still make it operational. On the video card, if you have a removable on, use the one built in on the motherboard. Same thing on the sound card.
