Default Anyone ever built Post and Beam?

Hello everyone, its been a while since I have been here. Busy trying to stay employed I guess. Anyway, has anyone ever built post and beam style houses before?

I am planning a 1000 sqft addition to my house and I want large vaulted ceilings so post and beam works well there. Trouble is, I've never done that before. Any ideas, pointer etc. would be helpful.

Cheers

I would be glad to travel up there and help ya out Wyatt

post and beam is good construction but I bet the price of the big lumber is gonna make it next to impossible to compare up economically to conventional construction

also with post and beam ya need machinery to lift em all in place

I know what you mean. It might be. It will be cheaper than a log house and because I am not building new I can't do that (or afford to do that). I've got access to a 215 series excavator that can lift what I need into place easy enough and zoom booms are cheap to rent if needed as well.

Kevin, you can still come up though.

Sure. I'll let you know what shakes out in the pricing.

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. I got laid off today - I did see it coming but it still sucks.
