Wrangler Jeans, Greasy Ball Cap, Cutoffs, workboots, Marlboros or Skoal rings, flanel, Rebel flag somewhere on your truck in your garage or in your house, work for your money 40 hours a week or more basically a working man's PHD and love America

 

I think being a redneck is too broad a term to really define. I like Jeff Foxworthy, he's a funny man, but a redneck isn't necessarily unsophisticated. If you're into big trucks you could be a redneck. You could also just like big trucks. If someone listens to country music but dresses in slacks and a button up shirt are they a redneck? Being a redneck is more of a state of mind I think. Someone may listen to contry, wear flannel, drive a big truck and love to go fishing every weekend but they may just be an outdoors kind of person and not have the mindset of someone you would consider a redneck.

I don't consider being a redneck a bad thing. I think the real question is what determines if you are a redneck or whitetrash, or are those the same thing?

I've personally been called both.. and Yes, being a redneck is a mindset. Its a common denominator for oilfield workers.. as it is with just about every blue collar industry. Its not about where your from, or where you live.. Its a state of mind, or lack there of..

Call me what you want.. Redneck, or white trash with money.. Either way Im happy..

You think KC is the defintion of redneck you should see the rest of my family!!!! As it's been said by many now, redneck by definition is your state of mind...there are so many rednecks and so many different types of rednecks. In my families case, hmmm lets see..

IF your yard looks like a salvage yard, you might be a redneck
IF you do your shopping for Christmas at Flea Markets and Auctions
IF you have more tractors and trucks than underwear
or if you have a family get together and it looks like a used car lot
IF you have more guns and hunting gear than underwear
IF your deep freezer is full of meat that was killed by you
IF you call an elm tree an ellum tree
IF you fly a rebel flag proudly in your yard
IF you have tattooed (is that a real word?) the rebel flag on your body
IF a great Saturday night is beaver huntin' (and I mean the real thing the animal called beaver)
IF a great Sunday afternoon is shootin' clay pigeons

People I could go on and on and my family is all of the above, I am very proud of my heritage and plan on passing it down to our boys!! Redneck is percieved as simple minded uneducated people, what the hell do those people know??? Let them keep thinking that, in the meantime, we can keep on enjoying our way of life

I'm pretty sure redneck 101 is an extracurricular activity, unless hunting and drinking beer is allowed in school. Some funny posts in here hehe.
