yeah I saw that show. its pretty wicked. the only problem is that the whole drive assembly needs to be replaced when the safety feature engauges, but hey thats less exspensive than losing an apendage.

I saw this about three years ago. Here is the website.

The World?s Leading maker of safe 10-inch Table Saws ? SawStop

If it was not so dang expensive I would already have one. I do wish that I did have one a while ago when a friend tore up his hand really bad on my table saw. Maybe it is time to spend the $$$ now so I don't have to spend it again later.

That is amazing, I'm betting all the schools woodshop will be buying one of these as soon as they can. 60 - 70 dollars vs 1000's in hospital bills sewing a finger back on....also this is from there website
"If you send us your activated cartridge and we determine through our diagnostic processes that contact with skin triggered the activation, we’ll send you a new cartridge free of charge"

So it won't cost you anything (maybe)

Holy cow that was amazing...I didn't really think he'd stick his finger in it! My dad got a few stitches when he was younger for that very thing.

I've seen them at tool shows. A couple of times per day, they take a hot dog out of the bun (they serve them for the show) and put on top of a 1x12 and push it through the saw (faster than I normally run stuff through) and when it hits the hot dog.... all I can say is that it works because the hot dog only gets a small nick. I've had alot worse from other "friendly" tools.
