Texas Gulf Coast

They have now grounded all flights. Winds are too high for even the Coast Guard helo's to fly. Galveston is now over 50% under water and there are some emergency crews that are trapped. Starting to see the wind pick up quite a bit here at my house. Ike is classified as a class 2 hurricane but the surge is classified at a class 4. This is the greatest flood Galveston has seen since the big one of 1900.

2 things, I heard that the Navy from San Antonio is taking the big boy helicopters to Galveston to rescue.
I also just heard that they are telling anyone in Galveston to put their SS number on their arms, and the people still in Galveston will not survive this storm. This could be media hype but they are reporting it.

That is actually true. The head of the Sheriff's department instructed anyone left in Galveston to write their name, SS# and drivers license number on their arms so that they could be identified when their bodies were found. The Navy is sending some CH-46's and H-3H's. Its a little too late now.
I'm getting 25mph gusts at my house right now.
