As long it has at least 1g of ram (memory-more the faster the system) 60g of HD space, good graphics like NvIDIA or ATI, an Intel Mobile CPU (uses less battery & is still a good CPU) and it has a disc to reinstall Windows, drivers, & software that came w. the system. If it don't stay away. If you want a good laptop, look at Toshiba. Had two of em, and they were a damn good systems.

Or you could get a Mac... I just purchased a MacBook, I do a lot of 3d solid modeling so I am running a virtual desktop. Kinda funny booting up windows on my Mac though.

It was like $1200 bucks but has 2g of Ram a 2.5ghz processor and 160g hard drive.

the best laptop we've used out in the shop/field is a Toshiba. I'd recommend either them or Dell. If you look at Dell's website at their refurbished stuff you can get a pretty nice setup for cheap.

I'll throw my vote in there for the Toshiba. I've been very happy with mine. My dad and my brother also have them.

Depends what you want to do with it.
Warranty is important.
If you look at HP United States - Computers, Laptops, Servers, Printers & more and look at the 6710B, it comes with XP or vista and you can get it with 2 GB (Max of 4) with differing size Hard drives. Most of them come with an Intel T8100 processor. The higher the number, the better the processor. the 6710 comes with a 3 yr warranty.
