Default how to get the gas companies to lower prices

I usually NEVER send something with a request to "send this on", but this one could have an impact! ! !

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It's worth your consideration.

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the “don't buy gas on a certain day” campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline
priced at about $1 .50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 -$1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the
marketplace… not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gasl And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars or TRUCKS, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here’s the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out at this point…. keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people.

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000).. and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it ….THREE
 > > >HUNDRED MILLION > > > >PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That’s all. (If you don’t understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10
People… Well, let’s face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 day!!!

I'II bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/ MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1 .30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN .

THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

it's a good idea.. it's been thought of before in many areas besides FUEL.

ur local lobstermen we take Sundays off by state law in the summer. to help keep the price up.
and it's being talked about taking Wednesdays off as well.

so what happens if the oil company decides to take 1 day a week off?

It's back. At least somebody updated the year on it this time. This message start's makin the rounds every spring for about the last 4 years. The one I saw last year though, nobody took the time to even update the year on the message.

Would be cool if you get folks to do it, but in this country it's all about convenience. These companies are handy when they need gas, so that's where there gonna stop. We got a station here in town that is always as much as an $.99 more then anyplace else. They do as much business as anybody else in town cause they are on the right corner. They never hit a dollar more but always just under.

Yes the IDEA has merit, BUT even IF everyone doesnt purchase fuel from the BIG 2 Oil Companies that doesnt mean it will force them to lower prices. Dont people realize how many of the Fuel Stations we buy our fuel from are subsidiares of them? And how many of the QUICKY TYPE of Fuel Stations get the fuel to sell from a refinery owned and operated by one of the 2? All this will end up doing is change the flow of where their profits come in from. I have never understood why when crude oil was down around $30 a barrel they could sell gas for under a buck. Now it doubles and we are paying more like 3x as much for fuel. And they tell us the NEED to charge this because of higher crude prices and yet as soon as they announce that the next day they post record profits. I am not a college professor but I am not stupid either. SOME ONE is taking advantage of the public in general and honestly WE have allowed it to happen. When the prices first went up there was almost NO drop in fuel consumption.... And what did WE the American society tell the Oil Companies,,,, We told them WE ARE willing to PAY it. We drive to the pumps and complain about the prices yet keep on filling the tank and driving. And when other forms of energy are proposed INSTANTLY the public cries foul and does what ever they can to stop it. I am seeing it here right now with WIND TURBINES. There is a company wanting to build a WINDTURBINE field in the region and MOST of the public are complaining and fighting it. Most of the reasons to stop it are not because of REAL valid issues but more based on personal issue. Such as how it will look or the noise or the number of birds killed. Yet we complain at higher energy costs and wanting to HELP the enviornment. But when get a chance to make a difference and "STEP UP TO THE PLATE", we fight to stop it. WE as the public want everything EASY and CHEAP but dont want to be inconvienced at all. IF an idea like what is mentioned in this thread were to work WE as a BODY HAVE TO do it together...... I dont see that happening. Ok sorry if I got winded on this. I agree something needs to be done, I just dont see the American people sticking together on this. We have the mentality of I AM GOING TO DO WHAT I WANT AND NO ONE WILL TELL ME WHAT TO DO.. and until that changes and WE ALL work together, we WONT see prices drop.
