Looking For A New Dog
Our Boxer "sandy" is no longer with us we had her for 9 years.
I am looking for a good replacement for her. I always wanted a good Rottweiler but the wife is not going to let that happen. So I mentioned an American Bulldog, she did not say no about that but said "they look mean". I also considered a German Shepherd, but her cousin was attacked by one so she has a bad image of them also.
I told her any dog can be trained to be good or bad, our Boxer was a 100lbs baby girl. I want to be able to keep her in the house, I want her to be easily trained and when my daughter goes running I want a dog that will be able to scare off someone that does not know my daughter.
Any suggestions on the American BD or the German Shepherd? Or any other suggestions on a good breed. No more then 100lbs and cannot be a big "slobber dog" and must be a female.
Thanks.

I would still get a Rotty, just because of the image when your daughter is running. Find a local rotty breeder with plenty of dogs on the facility, and take your wife there. Let her get around the dogs, you won't regret it. If it's a truly good breeder, they will all be trained fairly well. When it comes right down to it, the one paying should have a little say in it.

They tend to be a little scary looking and believe it or not "pits"
make great pets.
Ours has never eaten our seven year old, or any of the three cats.
She'd be safe with this guy at her side.

Id have to say go with the Rottys, I raise them and i have NEVER had a problem with any of them, they are the biggest babies you could ever own. My toy poms arer way more aggressive and they chase the 4 I own now.
Ive never liked the the german shepards but have never owned one so i couldnt compare.
And the bull dogs can get very aggresive and suffer from headaches and get irratable quickly.
keep in mind thou any dog can be an azz its all in they way you train them,
