T.I.A/Stroke
Anybody out there know anything/much about these things? I just got out of the hospital last night with my 2nd one of these things. The 1st was about 6yrs ago when I was 28 and now another one @ 34? The doc put me on a lifetime prescription for aspirin. She said it has something to do with blood clots circulating through my blood and eventually they end up in the brain. She said the aspirin works as a blood thinner?

Wow....dude that sucks. Yeah aspirin does thin the blood. But there are risks.

Damn, Tye! That's insane! I know Aspirin does help but there has to be another reason that you're having these. I would guess that if they're bad enough to be causing strokes then Aspirin won't quite cut it. We're going through this with my dad and he's on a couple meds to thin his blood. i can't remember their names and probably couldn't spell them anyway.
If this Doc isn't a cardiologist then you need to find one ASAP. You need to be having your tested every few months IMO.

A guy at work is going through this with his wife. Her first one was at 30 a couple years ago. They thought it was birth control at first so they took her off of that and put her on thinners at a low dose. She had another one and it was pretty big. Took her a while to come back and the third had her not talking, walking or eating solid food. They found out that hers was from a condition where the corroded artery contracts and becomes narrowed at which point it relaxes it lets a clot go and a stroke happens. It's totally random when it happens. It took a couple trips to the Mayo clinic in MN to figur it out. They just operated on it for her but the operation has set her back again. They are both in their low thirties and he's having to feed her with a tube. She is just starting to walk again and her speech has improved but it's hard to understand her. The docs say she will make a recovery but at only around 85%. Her CAT scans show 2 areas about the size of a fifty cent piece and a twenty five cent piece that are black showing dead tissue of the brain. I'm not trying to spook you but it is serious for sure. I'm also not saying this is what you have but there is something wrong to be having strokes at your age. Unless you have high cholesterol and a lot of plaque in your arteries.
Johnny is right though, if you aren't seeing a specialist you need to....NOW.
